Certificate II In Shearing
The Certificate II in Shearing provides participants with the skills to shear sheep to a standard, as well as knowledge of the working environment, occupational health and safety, and wool quality improvement.
The Certificate II in Shearing is aimed at participants seeking employment in the shearing industry.
RIST is registered to provide Nationally Recognised Training throughout Victoria. Students who attend a RIST course have the opportunity to gain competencies from recognised qualifications on successful completion of the training

AHCOHS201A - Follow OHS procedures
AHCWRK202A - Observe environmental work practices
AHCWRK204A - Work effectively in industry
AHCWRK205A - Participate in workplace communications
AHCSHG206A - Prepare handpiece and downtube for machine shearing
AHCSHG205A - Grind combs and cutters for machine shearing
AHCSHG201A - Crutch sheep
AHCSHG204A - Shear sheep to an improver level
RIST offers the opportunity for students to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) in all nationally recognised training that RIST is able to offer.

For eligible participants, this training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding.
The State Government is responsible for setting the tuition fees for Government funded training offered by RIST. The tuition fee, including acceptable concessions, is documented in the Ministerial Direction on Fees and Charges and this document is reviewed on an annual basis by the Government.
In addition to the Government funded training, RIST also delivers a range of commercial programs which are operated on a fee for service basis. Fees and charges for this type of training are not governed by the Ministerial Direction.
