General Information about RIST (Rural Industries Skill Training)

The RIST (Rural Industries Skill Training) Centre, based in Hamilton, Victoria is Australia’s largest independent training organisation specialising in rural training across Australia.

RIST is a registered training provider (4198), registered to deliver training in all states of Australia.

RIST offers training opportunities in the following areas:

• Wool and Sheep Production

• Meat Production

• Dairy

• Livestock Management

• Pasture and Grazing Systems

• Pasture and Livestock Management

• Business Development

• Natural Resource Management

• Diploma of Agriculture
• Traineeships

Course Information

RIST has a unique management system by which it retains on a contractual basis all presenters of its courses.
This means that subject to demand, RIST accesses industry experts from accross Australia for all its training programs to provide high quality, relevant training, in any location.

As RIST is registered to provide Nationally Recognised Training throughout Australia, students who attend a RIST course have the opportunity to gain competencies from nationally recognised qualifications on successful completion of the training.

In Victoria, RIST has access to training funds which enable it to offer training at a reduced cost to the course participant.
RIST also has strong links with FarmBis in all states and is able to use this support to provide subsidised training to eligible farmers on approved courses.

Becoming a RIST Deliverer

To ensure the quality of training RIST offers is enhanced, RIST has established a set of guidelines for potential deliverers to complete prior to contractual agreements being reached.
RIST uses these guidelines to assess each potential deliverer’s suitability to deliver Nationally Recognised Training (see attached).
